Early Bird Lawnscapes

About Early Bird Lawnscapes

Saint Paul wakes slowly along the river — fog holding in the Mississippi gorge, first light finding the cathedral dome before it reaches the yards below. Early Bird Lawnscapes is out in that hour, mowers dropped on Summit-side boulevards and East Side corner lots while the streets are still quiet. Mowing, trimming, edging the granite curb line, and carrying off the leaves that pile against wrought-iron fences each October. There's a particular pleasure in finishing a block before the neighborhood has had breakfast, the stripes still damp and the sidewalks blown bare. Around Como, Highland, Merriam Park and out into Roseville and Maplewood, the work is the same and the yards are all different.
