You can hear a February night in Roseville before you see it: the hiss of salt trucks out on Highway 36, the wind working at the storm doors, snow stacking up an inch an hour. JR's Snowplowing runs toward those nights. Plowing is the whole business — driveways opened, approaches cleared, the ridge the city plow leaves at the end of the drive knocked flat before it freezes into concrete. They work while the totals climb, so that by morning the neighborhood's driveways sit black and bare against all that white. In a winter that can throw down snow from November to April, that reliability is its own kind of warmth.
