Bill the Snow Plow Guy

About Bill the Snow Plow Guy

At four in the morning on Lexington Avenue, the snow falls through the streetlight cones like static, and somewhere out there is Bill. Bill the Snow Plow Guy does one thing, and the name tells you exactly what it is. When an Alberta clipper drops six inches on Roseville overnight, his headlights are moving down driveways before the coffee makers click on, peeling the snow back to clean pavement in long, certain strokes. There is a particular pleasure in stepping outside to a driveway already done, the banks squared off, the walk passable. In a Minnesota winter, that small dawn miracle is the whole job — and he does it storm after storm.
