Some nights in December the wind comes across the open farm fields and rebuilds every drift it just made, and the snow does not so much fall on Rosemount as arrive sideways. Tier One Landscape works those nights. Snow removal is the whole business here: driveways scraped to pavement, sidewalks cut clean, banks pushed back so the next storm has somewhere to go. The crew watches the radar the way farmers once watched the sky, staging trucks ahead of the front and running routes until the last drive is open. By the time the sun comes up orange over the snowfields east of town, the work is done and the day can begin. Winter is long in this corner of Minnesota; being ready for it is the craft.
