Elevated Hardscapes

About Elevated Hardscapes

South of downtown the land starts to tilt, folding into the little valleys that feed the Zumbro watershed, and yards on that kind of ground need more thought than flat ones. Elevated Hardscapes takes its name seriously: lawn care with an eye for grade, for the terrace and the slope, for grass that has to hold a hillside as well as look good on it. Mowing follows the contour; trimming keeps the transitions clean where turf meets stone and stair. Cleanups in spring and fall keep the low spots from collecting what the high spots shed. On tilted ground, a well-kept lawn is a kind of engineering — and in the hill-and-hollow country around Rochester, there is plenty of tilted ground to keep.
