About Diaz Tree & Roofing Services

A river valley makes its own winter. Cold air pools along the Mississippi below Red Wing, and by two in the morning the drifts have found the driveways that face north — the same ones the wind lines up on every time. Diaz Tree & Roofing Services runs snow removal on that schedule: plowing the drives, shoveling by hand where a blade can't reach, salting the slick spot at the bottom of a grade so nobody has to think about it. There is a plain satisfaction in a lot that's black and wet at daybreak while the rest of the street is still white. Then the truck swings back onto Highway 61 and goes looking for the next one.
