Wake Star Lawn Service

About Wake Star Lawn Service

First light on Pike Bay comes up flat and pink, and the water lies perfectly still for an hour before anybody's motor touches it. Wake Star Lawn Service starts its days inside that hour, moving through the township's scattered yards and cabin clearings — keeping grass down, trimming close, edging the gravel until it reads as a line. Out here a lot is carved from jack pine and blueberry ground, and the border between kept and wild is only ever whatever somebody chooses to hold. Summer is short and bright in this corner of Cass County, so the schedule runs tight from the first cut in late May to the last cleanup before the leaves go. The pleasure is pulling up to a place that has gone shaggy and leaving it looking lived in on purpose.
