About D & R SERVICES

At four in the morning in January, New Prague belongs to the plows. D & R SERVICES is out in it — headlights cutting through the falling snow, blade down, working driveways and lots while Main Street's stoplights blink yellow at nobody. Snow here means business: Alberta clippers dropping fast inches, northwest winds that drift the open stretches shut again an hour after they are opened. So the work is patient and repetitive and essential, done so that when the town wakes it can simply go — to school, to work, to coffee — without a thought for what fell overnight. That thoughtlessness is the compliment D & R works for.
