Handy Lews

About Handy Lews

Morning in Minnesota City arrives twice — once for the bluff tops, and again twenty minutes later for the valley floor when the shade finally lets go. Handy Lews mows and trims the yards tucked under those limestone walls, working the small lots and the places along the road toward Rollingstone. Bluff-country lawns come in odd shapes, steep at the back and tight against a retaining wall, so the trimming matters as much as the mowing. Spring and fall cleanups clear the hardwood leaves that come down off the slopes by the wheelbarrow load. Cut, edged and blown off, a yard down here sits neat beneath a very large hill.
