About Top Notch Grounds, Inc

December dusk comes early to Mankato — by half past four the hills near Mount Kato are going blue, and whatever fell during the day is setting up hard. Top Notch Grounds, Inc works against that clock, getting the snow off before it turns from something you shovel into something you chip. It is a town of steep short streets and long flat approaches, and each one asks for a slightly different touch: an angle here, a second pass there, salt where the shade holds the ice past noon. The craft is in the details nobody photographs — the cleared strip in front of the mailbox, the corner cut wide enough for the morning turn. Done right, winter becomes something Mankato watches through the window instead of fights on the doorstep.
