About The Caretakers Inc.

In deep February, when Minneopa's falls hang frozen in mid-plunge just west of town, Mankato settles into the stillest part of its year — and that is exactly when The Caretakers Inc. is busiest. The name says it plainly: someone has to look after things while the valley sleeps under three feet of accumulated winter. Snow removal here is patient, repeated work, storm after storm, the kind measured not in single heroic efforts but in a whole season of drives kept open and steps kept safe. There is a quiet dignity in it — in knowing that a neighbor on a bluff-side street can back out of the garage without a second thought because the clearing was already done. When the ice finally lets go of the river in March, the season's work simply dissolves with it, leaving nothing behind but a town that got through.
