About Davis Sales & Service Inc.

The elevator stands over Madelia the way it stands over every town strung along this rail line, and in winter you can watch snow smoking off its roof long before the storm reaches Main Street. Davis Sales & Service Inc. clears what follows — lots and driveways plowed, dock aprons and entrances opened, walks shoveled, ice knocked down where a drip line has frozen into steps. Business in a town this size starts early and does not wait on weather, so the plowing doesn't either. A lot scraped clean to the pavement, with the banks tucked out of the way, is a good thing to pull into. The storm passes, the town opens, and nobody has to give it a thought.
