The old rail grade still runs through Loretto, crushed limestone now, carrying walkers and bikes west toward the lakes instead of freight. Anderson Lawn keeps the ground on either side of it all year: cutting, trimming and edge work while things grow, plowing and clearing walks once the first serious storm comes over from the northwest. This far edge of Hennepin County is a mix of village lots and hobby-farm frontage, and every one of them wants something a little different from a mower and a blade. The reward is simple — turf cut even to the fence line, and a driveway black and open at seven in the morning. Loretto is small enough that both get noticed.
