Deep in a Little Sand Lake winter, the trouble often hangs overhead: snow that softens on a sunny roof by afternoon and refreezes into a ridge of ice at the eaves by night. Due North Ice Dams takes on exactly that problem, removing ice dams and clearing roof snow so meltwater has somewhere to go besides under the shingles. While the lake lies locked and white and the icicles grow long as fishing rods, a cleared roofline is a relief that shows from the driveway. The work happens up high and carefully, and when it is finished the house seems to stand a little lighter, ready for the next cold front out of the north.
