Out on the gravel between Litchfield and Darwin a driveway can run a quarter mile from the county road to the house, and after a three-day blow it fills clear to the fence posts. Lokken Land Management is built for that sort of winter — plowing long approaches and yard sites, opening turnarounds, clearing walks and doorways by hand where a machine can't reach. Ice gets treated at the steps and along the paths people actually use. The measure of the job is whether the mail truck, the propane truck and the school bus can all do their work the same morning. When they can, the storm goes back to being ordinary weather.
