About JJ'Snowblowing Service

The overnight clippers slide into Washington County out of the northwest, and by four in the morning JJ'Snowblowing Service is already listening for the forecast to become fact. This is snowblowing as a craft: the auger biting through the windrow the city plow left at the end of the drive, the chute throwing a white arc under the yard light, the path to the door cut wide enough for two. Around Lake Jane and the quiet loops off the county roads, driveways come open one after another while the sky is still the color of tin. There is a plain pleasure in finishing a block before the first commuters scrape their windshields. When Lake Elmo wakes up, the snow is already somewhere it belongs.
