Homstad & Co.

About Homstad & Co.

So close to the Canadian line, a June evening in Lake Bronson barely releases the light; the northern sky holds a soft glow long after supper. Homstad & Co. mows yards in a small town at the edge of the Red River Valley, where the land runs so level that a house and its yard can be seen from a long way off. That openness makes a tended yard matter: the mowing lines, the trimmed corners, the grass cut back from the shed all read at a glance. A freshly cut lawn in that lingering light, smelling of summer and catching the last of the day, is reason enough to stay out on the porch.
