Friendshuh lawn and snow

About Friendshuh lawn and snow

Out past the town limits, Jordan turns to gravel roads and long farm driveways, and that is country Friendshuh lawn and snow knows by heart. On a frost-silvered dawn in December, the work is getting those quarter-mile drives open all the way to the road before chores and school buses; in July, it is keeping big country yards mowed so the place looks kept from the mailbox to the machine shed. The scale is different out here — more lane, more lawn, more weather — and so is the pace, measured in a wave from the truck cab and a job finished right. Neighbors along the same road tend to end up on the same route. That is how it should work in a township. The lawn in summer, the snow in winter, and the same truck in the yard for both.
