About First-Rate Outdoors, LLC

The ground under Isanti is old river sand, quick to drain and quicker to warm, and a lawn here asks for a particular kind of attention. First-Rate Outdoors, LLC gives it that — mowing lines laid straight across the yards off Highway 65, trimming tight to the fence posts, hauling off the leaf drop when the oaks finally let go in late October. Then the year turns and the work turns with it, plows opening driveways out along the township roads while the sky over the county is still the color of pewter. There is a plain satisfaction in a drive cut wide before the first car needs it, and in a walk taken down to bare concrete. Both halves are really the same job: keeping a place usable, week after week, in a county where the weather never asks permission.
