About McMillan Tree Service

Grand Marais keeps one eye on the lake, and the lake decides most things — the fog that slides in over the harbor, the gale that stacks water against the breakwall. McMillan Tree Service works the town and the grade climbing toward the Gunflint: tree removal on lots cut out of birch and spruce, tree trimming to hold a sightline down to the water, pruning for the cedar and mountain ash that grow slowly in thin soil over Cook County rock. A November blow puts limbs across driveways the length of the shore, and storm damage cleanup is what follows it. Under the Sawtooth ridges, a yard opened back up to the daylight feels like a small victory.
