About JKL Helping Hands

The morning after a Glencoe snow is bright and hushed and completely impassable, and the first sound on the block is a shovel. JKL Helping Hands makes that sound: walks cleared to the step, the mailbox dug out, the plow ridge at the end of the driveway broken open so a car can actually get out. Plowing where a machine belongs, hand work where it does not, salt and sand on the shady stretch of sidewalk that never quite thaws. Out on the flat ground west of town the drifts come back by afternoon, and sometimes the job is simply to come back too. Nothing about it is complicated, and nothing about it is small — a cleared path is how a person keeps their day.
