About DFM

The snow that finds Fairmont mostly comes sideways. Out here on the southern Minnesota prairie there is little between town and the weather but corn stubble, and a hard wind off the open ground west of town can lay a drift across a driveway in the time it takes to eat supper. DFM answers that arithmetic with a plow. Storm nights are for watching the radar; storm mornings are for running routes while the streetlights are still on, peeling the snow back until pavement shows and the truck can idle a minute at the end of a clean drive. The wind will bring more — it always does — and DFM will be back for that too. In a winter town, an open driveway is its own quiet argument that the season can be lived with.
