About Zone 3 Gardens

Hardiness zone 3 is not a suggestion; frost can call in June and again in early September, and everything green has to make its case fast. Zone 3 Gardens takes that as its working premise — mowing, trimming and tending lawns through the narrow window when Ely turns unreasonably lush. Down by Semer's Beach the grass runs nearly to the sand, and above town the old Pioneer headframe stands over a neighborhood of small, close-kept yards. Fall cleanup starts early up here, leaves and needles cleared while the ground is still soft enough to rake. A short season is not a small one, and the work fills every day it offers.
