Raising Iron

About Raising Iron

Out here the storm you feel is rarely the one that fell — it's the one the wind rebuilt overnight across open ground. Raising Iron plows Elbow Lake through that: driveways and farm approaches, shop doors and yard aprons, county-road entrances that drift shut behind a single gap in a shelterbelt. Walks and steps get shoveled down to something safe, and the slick places get treated before anybody finds them the hard way. Snow is moved back from corners and gate swings so the yard doesn't shrink a foot with every storm. When the truck's lights swing out of a drive at four in the morning, the day inside can start on time.
