Golden Grass

About Golden Grass

In August the fields at the edge of East Grand Forks ripen to the color of late afternoon, and for a few weeks the whole valley seems lit from inside. Golden Grass mows through that season with the sun low and warm across the handlebars, cutting town lawns while the countryside turns gold around them. The work is unhurried and exact — clean passes, trimmed borders, clippings away — because a lawn should hold its color the way the valley holds its light. Some names are just descriptions waiting to be earned.
