Stone and Soil Landscaping

About Stone and Soil Landscaping

Duluth is a city built on rock — ancient dark bedrock that shows through the bluffs below Enger Tower and lies close beneath nearly every yard in town. Stone and Soil Landscaping takes its name from that reality and its work from the space between the two: coaxing lawns and plantings out of thin northern soil laid over stone. The craft is part reading the ground and part improving it — building up beds, setting grass where it can actually root, letting rock be a feature instead of a fight. Summer light on the hillside is sharp and clear, and a well-made yard holds it beautifully: green turf, clean stone edges, everything in its place. Ground this stubborn asks for patience. It gives back permanence.
