Plow Patrol

About Plow Patrol

Three in the morning, four inches down and still coming, and the route is a list: this drive, that lot, the walk behind the corner store, the numbered streets taken in order. Plow Patrol runs Superior winters exactly that way — plowing driveways and parking lots, clearing walkways and entries, cutting out the city's windrow at the end of a drive, sanding and salting whatever's gone slick. Headlights, blowing snow, the amber bar turning; you don't see the town so much as the next hundred feet of it. By the time the sky goes gray over the harbor the list is finished and the route is already starting to fill in again. Some winters that's five nights a week, and every one of them ends with a town that can get moving.
