Deer River sits at the edge of the Chippewa National Forest, and a lawn here is really a clearing — grass held open against pine, birch and popple that would take it all back in a season. Itasca Lawns keeps those clearings: mowing, trimming around stumps and stone, edging the gravel drive, cutting back the brush line where it creeps in from the trees. The summer is short enough that every week counts, so the schedule stays tight from a late green-up in May to the first frost. Spring cleanup means needles, cones and branches out of the turf; fall means the same in reverse, before the snow packs everything flat. There is real satisfaction in a mown clearing under big pines — the wild standing right at the edge, and the yard holding its ground.
