About Kato GreenWorks

Mankato folks shorten the name to Kato, and Kato GreenWorks works the lawns on that eastern shoulder of town where the streets give out into Decoria Township fields. October is the long season here — the valley turns and holds its gold for weeks, and then all of those leaves come down at once. They clear them off the turf, take the grass down short for the last time, and leave the yard set up to sleep. The rest of the year is the steady part: weekly mowing, crisp trim lines around posts and beds, fertilizing in spring and again once the heat lets go. Grass put to bed properly wakes up greener in April, and that is the whole argument for the final mow of the year.
