About Blackbird Services LLC

In Coon Rapids, winter's true end is announced from the cattails at Crooked Lake, when the red-winged blackbirds come back singing over the last gray drifts. Until that day, Blackbird Services LLC is out in the dark and the cold, plowing driveways and cutting open paths through whatever the night dropped. Some storms arrive as fine dry powder off the plains; others come heavy and wet ahead of a warm front — the trucks meet them all the same way, blade down, lights on. It is patient, repetitive, necessary work, and there is a satisfaction in it: the black of bare asphalt against all that white. By the time the first conk-la-ree rings out over the ice, the pavement never stayed buried long.
