About Buermann's Outdoor Services

On a still January morning the Sauk River smokes, and the cold that makes it do that is the same cold welding last night's snow to a driveway. Buermann's Outdoor Services is out ahead of it — plowing drives and lots around Cold Spring, cutting the ridge the town plow leaves at the end of every apron, taking walks and steps down to the surface, spreading sand where the ice already has a head start. Storms roll in over the low granite hills west of town and can drop a wet, heavy snow that turns to concrete by afternoon. Clearing it while it is still snow is most of the craft. What is left behind is a drive that is simply open, all winter, without anyone having to think about it.
