Highway 2 runs straight through Cohasset, and when a system tracks in off the plains the wind takes the open ground beside it and lays the snow back down wherever it likes. Pivot Group plans for that: lots cleared and stacked where the drift cannot simply rebuild them, entrances kept open through the night, walks and door approaches shoveled down and treated so the first person in finds footing instead of a skating rink. Storms here arrive in installments, so the work does too — a pass at midnight, another at four, another when the wind shifts. The measure of it is a lot at daybreak with its stripes showing and its curb lines back where they belong. A storm's worth of work that leaves no evidence behind it.
