About T.A. Schmidt And Sons Excavating, Inc.

In deep winter the lakes around Chisago City become broad white plains, the far shores marked only by dark lines of trees and the first lights of evening coming on at half past four. T.A. Schmidt And Sons Excavating, Inc., an excavating company, turns its attention to snow removal in this lake town. Clearing calls for a steady hand and a feel for what lies underneath — where the drive ends, where the lawn begins, where the frost heaves hide. A drive opened wide with square corners, and a walk cleared so nobody has to wade, is the result worth working toward. In a place settled by Swedish farmers who knew long winters, keeping the way open feels like an old and honorable chore.
