Jensen Yard

About Jensen Yard

Byron's older streets run under silver maples that throw shade all June and then, in about ten days of October, throw everything else. Jensen Yard is there for both halves, mowing and trimming through the growing weeks, then raking and hauling until the boulevard is clean again. When the maples are bare and the first clipper slides down out of the northwest, the equipment changes and the hours move earlier: driveways opened, walks cut through, ice knocked back with salt and sand. It is ordinary work, and it is the difference between a house you can leave and one you cannot. A yard kept tidy in every month is its own kind of welcome.
