About Gelded Acres LLC

North of town toward Merrifield the lots stretch out — long gravel drives, open grass running to the tree line, more acre than yard. Gelded Acres LLC mows that kind of ground: the big lawns and rural spreads around Brainerd where a push mower would be a life sentence. Summer out there is grasshoppers and heat shimmer and the smell of clover, and the crew cuts it wide and even until the whole field of a yard reads like one green page. There is a particular pleasure in acreage work, watching raw shag turn to lawn a swath at a time. When the evening cools off the lakes, the finished acres hold the light a long while.
