About Spring Green

No month is earned in Minnesota like April, and no one welcomes it quite like a lawn crew. Spring Green takes its name seriously in Cottage Grove: when the drifts finally give up and the matted grass shows through, the season's first work begins — raking out winter, waking up the turf, coaxing the yards toward color. Watch a brown lawn in this town turn over three weeks of April; it is one of the quiet spectacles of the year. Through summer the mowing and care continue, keeping that hard-won color in good order. The name is a promise about a season, kept all year.
