Hurley's Tree Service

About Hurley's Tree Service

The day after a Blomkest blizzard often breaks bitter and blinding, sun dogs flanking a low winter sun over the Kandiyohi County fields. Hurley's Tree Service, a tree service by trade, digs out drives and yards in this farming community once the wind finally lies down. That work has a clean beauty to it: the bright cut of a cleared drive, the banks shouldered neatly aside, a path to the door where an hour ago there was only drift. Grain bins glint on the outskirts, and the whole world turns to blue shadow and white light. Opening it all back up is the job, and it is a good one.
