Mj's All Seasons

About Mj's All Seasons

Lake Bemidji keeps two calendars — glass-blue and busy with sails in July, white and wind-scoured by January — and Mj's All Seasons answers to both of them. In summer the work is mowing and trimming, laying stripes as straight as the pines along Birchmont Drive while gulls argue over the water. When the cold takes hold, the mowers give way to plows, and the same yards become driveways to open before the town's first coffee is poured. There is a particular pleasure in that full-circle rhythm: grass kept low in the long light, snow pushed back in the short days. Around Bemidji, a year is really two seasons with a pause between them, and this is a crew built for the whole of it.
