The Mississippi is young in Bemidji — a narrow channel slipping from Lake Irving into Lake Bemidji beneath the Nymore bridge — and the town along its banks needs tending in every month the river runs and every month it steels over. A&D Land Services works both halves of that calendar. Summer means mowers moving through neighborhood yards, trimmers squaring off the sidewalks, cleanups that leave a lot looking opened up and breathing. Winter means the plow: driveways cut clear while the porch lights are still on, walkways shoveled down to honest pavement. Between the first mowing of May and the last push of March, the ground here is never left to its own devices.
