About Alex the Tree Guy

The morning after a storm, the Minnesota River valley below Belle Plaine goes pale and enormous: bare cottonwoods, snow clear to the bluff line, a sky rinsed of everything. Alex the Tree Guy is already down in it, plowing driveways and opening the walks and steps that a shovel would still be arguing with at noon. The valley catches wind strangely, so snow lands soft in one yard and packs hard against the garage door in the next, and much of the work is knowing which is which. A drive opened clean from curb to garage is a piece of the day handed back to somebody. That is the whole job, storm after storm.
