Out past Becker the country goes to oak savanna and scattered bur oak, the last of it kept wild on the refuge land northwest of town, and every yard in between borrows a little of that light. Greenfields Irrigation mows and trims those yards from the first flush of May green until the leaves have all been hauled off, edging the walks and clearing what the wind leaves behind. Evening is the best time to see the result, low sun raking across a cut lawn with every stripe standing up. Grass on this soil rewards attention and goes lean without it. The aim is a yard that looks looked-after without looking fussed over.
