Roland's Tree Service

About Roland's Tree Service

Highway 371 runs dead straight through Backus, and the Paul Bunyan State Trail keeps pace beside it on its own old railbed grade. Roland's Tree Service works the jack pine and popple that grow thick along both, along with the yards and lake places tucked back on the sand roads. October is the good stretch here: leaves down, sightlines open, easy to tell which limbs over a roof are dead and which are only resting. When a summer storm walks through the pines and lays a top across a driveway, the cleanup starts at the road and works its way in. A pruned tree should look like nobody was ever in it, just a little more open to the sky.
