Avon sits among the Spunk Lakes, and its calendar swings between two very different surfaces: summer lawns sloping down toward the water and winter drives that vanish under one night's snowfall. Pfannenstein Landscaping works both, mowing and trimming through the warm months and plowing and clearing once ice locks the lakes. In July the Lake Wobegon Trail carries cyclists right through town, and the lawns along the route look their sharpest under a high, hot sun. Come January the same streets are hushed, ice houses dot the lake, and a driveway scraped down to concrete is the neighborly thing to wake up to. Two seasons, one landscaper, and the same pleasure in leaving a place looking finished.
