Nelson's Excavating and Landscaping

About Nelson's Excavating and Landscaping

The Mississippi makes a long, slow bend past Aitkin, the same river that once carried steamboats to this landing, and summer along its banks comes in deep and green. Nelson's Excavating and Landscaping, an excavating and landscaping outfit, meets that season with lawn care, mowing yards until they lie as smooth as the river on a windless evening. The craft is in the finish: a clean border along the walk, grass that runs even from the curb to the doorstep. After the river freezes and snow stacks up along the curbs, the blade comes down and Aitkin driveways get plowed open for the day ahead. Shaping ground is the heart of the trade, and in this river town it shows in every season's result.
