An Alberta clipper crosses Michigan in a hurry, drops three or four inches on Ypsilanti overnight, and leaves the morning bright, blue and bitter. Michigan Grounds Maintenance meets that morning with plows on the drives and lots, shovels on the steps and walks, and salt laid where boots will land. School buses run these streets by seven, and the entire route is built backward from that fact. Snow moved before daylight is snow nobody has to fight. What is left behind is clean pavement, a clear path to the door, and a town that gets where it is going.
