Out along Brockway Road the fields run flat to the horizon, and in January the snow does not so much fall as travel — sideways, in ribbons, stacking wherever a fence line slows it. K & S Lawn Service plows through that, opening drives, clearing walks and putting salt down where ice sets up hard. Then April arrives, the drifts go to mud, and the mowers come out of the shed.
