The maples around Lamar Park start turning in September before anybody is ready for it, and that is when Wyoming's lawns hit their finest stretch of the year — cool nights, heavy dew by six, grass growing like it has something left to prove. Nichols Lawn & Landscape works right through that window, mowing on a steady cycle, keeping the trim tight to the fence posts and the beds cut back to a firm, dark edge. Autumn here comes down in stages, so the leaf work comes in stages too, until the last pass leaves a yard bare and tidy for winter.
