Down at Bishop Park the freighters come up the Detroit River all summer, low and slow, and half the city stops to watch one go by. Blue Green Services keeps Wyandotte's lawns through that stretch — mowing, trimming, edging the strip between sidewalk and street where the city meets the yard. Then the river turns gray, the wind comes across it with teeth, and the same trucks head out with plows and salt for drives, walks and lots. Downriver winters do not announce themselves; they arrive overnight and expect you to be ready for them. Being ready is most of the job.
