Clear Cut Brush Co.

About Clear Cut Brush Co.

Outside the village, Elk Rapids Township is two-tracks and cedar low ground and long driveways that vanish into the trees well before they reach a house. Clear Cut Brush Co. plows those — the ones where you have to know where the culvert sits before the snow hides it, and where wind off Grand Traverse Bay refills a fresh cut inside an hour. Lake-effect here comes in bands: bright sky, then a wall of white, then bright sky again by noon. The work is opening drives and lots and pushing the banks back far enough that the next storm has somewhere to go. There is a particular quiet at the end of a plowing night, when everything is open and nobody is stuck.
