TERRAFIRMA

About TERRAFIRMA

Under all that white is the ground itself — sand and gravel dropped here by ice, humped into low hills between the lakes. TERRAFIRMA works that terrain each winter, plowing driveways and clearing walks around Whitmore Lake once a storm has run itself out. Cold nights here are bright and hard, the kind where the snow squeaks and the pushed banks set up like concrete by daylight. Clearing wide and clearing early is what keeps a drive from narrowing pass by pass through February. The service covers Whitmore Lake and the Northfield and Green Oak roads that spoke out from it.
